In Grade 4, it is crucial for your child to focus on enhancing their essential learning skills in order to boost their ability to absorb knowledge effectively. As they progress to Upper Primary, it is vital for students to continue building upon the solid foundations laid in Lower Primary. This year is dedicated to setting clear academic and personal growth goals that will equip your child with the necessary tools to excel in the higher levels of primary education. By honing their critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills, your child will be well-prepared to navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with advancing to the next stage of their educational journey.

MATHEMATICS

Duration: 2hrs/lesson

Throughout Primary 4, students will be required to apply foundational concepts to solve word problems, as well as grasp more complex ideas like measuring angles, interpreting data tables and graphs, and calculating angles. Moreover, they will utilize mathematical operations and measurement techniques to handle larger numbers and more digits.

Content Objectives

Students will explore arithmetic involving numbers exceeding 100,000.
Students will enhance their core knowledge of fundamental arithmetic involving the four operations.
Students will delve into essential concepts like Fractions, Decimals, Time, Area, Graphs, Patterns, Lines, Angles, and Geometry, expanding their knowledge base significantly.
Students will tackle challenging word problems encompassing the four fundamental operations, decimals, time, area, lines, angles, and graphs, enhancing their problem-solving skills across various mathematical concepts.

ENGLISH

Students will be exposed to a vast array of narratives, non-fiction texts, rhymes, and games in a thoughtfully designed learning environment. In our programme, students’ confidence and language proficiency will be enhanced. Our resources cover essential themes ranging from social to global topics, sparking learners to Think, Do, Feel and Interact.

Content Objectives

Students will listen to narratives, non-fiction texts and songs.
Students will participate in a variety of speaking activities, boosting their confidence in using the language.
In addition to producing a wide range of graphic materials (infographics, flyers, posters), students will compose a variety of written pieces (emails, stories, paragraphs, blog posts, news articles), all of which will be evaluated in terms of language, organisation and content. They will beintroduced to the process of proofreading and editing their own work.
Students will broaden their vocabulary base through our carefully crafted curriculum. They will learn to pronounce, spell, and use words in meaningful context. Our programme emphasises the acquisition of words that learners find most useful for social and academic communication.
The grammar coverage aligns with the Cambridge Primary curriculum framework.
Practising grammatical forms and sentence patterns will help students utilise the target language in local and global communication context.
